Meals on Wheels of Northwest Indiana Statement on COVID-19
Meals on Wheels of Northwest Indiana (MOWNWI) takes the safety of their staff, volunteers, and clients seriously. We are continually monitoring the COVID-19 developments and adjusting procedures continually to address concerns and increase safety measures. It is our goal to be adaptable and respond quickly to allow us to continue to provide nutrition to our clients while keeping all involved safe.
MOWNWI has implemented a series of measures to improve precautions and safety standards around meal production and deliveries. We have established baselines of procedures to implement should a quarantine occur. We will also continue communication with our clients and volunteers to ensure they know best practices to avoid exposure to the virus as well as the status of meal deliveries and any adaptations made to the delivery.
We have enhanced our cleaning protocols and increased the number of times work areas, break areas, vehicles, and all other areas are cleaned and disinfected. We have communicated best practices with our staff and volunteers on how to minimize risk to those clients who might have underlying medical conditions that make them more susceptible to the virus. Staff and volunteers are to stay home if ill.
We do not anticipate interruption to our current home delivered meals at this time. We will remain open and continually communicate updates and changes on our social media, website, and via phone calls.
MOWNWI knows the value of delivering nutrition to those who might be homebound and will continue to make every effort to ensure our clients are taken care of during this pandemic.
